Holy shit, Chase has never looked more menacing/disturbed. Scott, you’re doing a really good job of making my favorite protagonist come off as very evil, it’s a terribly good talent D:
I’m with you, making Chase pure evil would make me sad. I want more happiness, sunshine, and rainbows. And puppies, but not puppy grenades, regular puppies. Joking aside, let’s get good old Chase back.
Oh my god, this comic. I’ve been reading for a long time now and I check for updates every day hoping to see a new comic, but recently I’ve started to dread each comic because I don’t want Chase to do something he regrets. I see all the theories of Chase being Templeton and it makes me rather anxious for him. Thank you Scott for writing, in my not so humble opinion, one of the best comics out there.
I know this is bringing up old stuff, but did you ever get around to posting that wallpaper with Negril and the rainbow? I’ve been looking for it, but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. I even went back through the archives. Btw, your archives button isn’t working right. It might just be me. When it didn’t work for me, I just decided to go back through from the beginning again. Anyway, just checking. I can’t say it bothered me going back through the old stuff. You can really see the artistic improvements that have happened through the years. Keep up the good work Scott.
it reminds me my smile when im thinking about revenge… my friends always tell me to stop it, but i cant help it… beside that… its kind of creepy that sometimes i make that face while sleeping…
New theory. What if later in the series, Nerg separates Chase and monster Chase, creating two Chases. One good(who becomes human king), one evil(who becomes Templeton).
In which case, why is Templeton nigh-immortal considering it’s been so long since the human king’s time ‘ended’, and who was Templeton making passes at that rejected him and landed him attacking Grandda and Jarvis?
Perhaps Grandda is Chase, having changed over the years, and Templeton was hitting on Taryn. Or its the old evil lives long enough to come and try to use your descendants thing. That, or as one person mentioned, Nergil absorbing Chase, only instead, we apply this theory and he absorbs bad Chase and that creates Templeton.
Interesting, interesting. Though in that case, one wonders how Chase got around to becoming a king with his ‘bad’ self still on the loose, or why said ‘bad’ self let them be long enough for them to procreate, but, if true, that’s something to be seen when it happens, if it happens.
Can’t tell from the shading who Monty’s jumping at, but from the promise of things coming soon… well, what was said was “more soon,” not “more humor soon,” so still can’t say.

Noooooooooo I don’t want chase to be Templeton!

I can’t stand the suspense between updates times.

Monty kept the monster calm, Monty kept everything calm. But then you hurt Monty and the monster got out.
Chase’s deranged smile sent chills down my spine, and believe me… That’s a rare occurrence.

Please, PLEASE let the imminent Monty glomp attack snap Chase outta his psychoBAMFness…

This is the best theory I have heard so far!!!
It would explain why Templeton is blue skinned and the last human king still appears in a portrait.
In which case, why is Templeton nigh-immortal considering it’s been so long since the human king’s time ‘ended’, and who was Templeton making passes at that rejected him and landed him attacking Grandda and Jarvis?

Or maybe its … THE RETURN OF THE CARDIGAAAAAN!!! Dun Dun Dahhhh!

… INTERESTING!!
Chase and Monty in the last panel is me with my cat, but that’s her when I get home. 🙂
Mrs. Mills, not to kick you while you’re down, but I think you may be a tad mistaken here. About everything. Ever.
-just to shake the epileptictree-
So she’s wrong about beating Mr. Mills through sex?
Chase’s baptism is almost complete SOon. He’ll be known as Darth Templeton.
I hope you’re wrong. Chase is hard to picture as becoming totally evil, although it would force the scenes in his head to take a serious twist
Wouldn’t be the first time gag strips have become canon in this comic, would it?
Damm. This comic got really dark really quickly :/
Where’d the lighthearted humor go?
Lighthearted humor? What comic have you been reading? It’s always been extremely black comedy.
You know what, just to counter all the darkness, Chase just beat Mrs. Mills into unconsciousness. (She’s likely survived worse anyway.)
And Chase is about to get Monster Monty’s equivalent of a flying hug. (A one ton flying hug coming at him at seventy klicks per hour.)
Lol Monty took the other guy’s moustache.
Because he was not worthy of such a NEAR-RAGESTACH!!!
Where is the booooookkk!!!!!!
*Singing, terribly*
“Two monsters, monsters dance before you. They eat your head now”*
*”Sung” to the tune “Two princes”
Didn’t this all start because they trying to help Zoey?
