Like I said a few days ago, please don’t make any promises that you know you won’t keep. Don’t rush yourself with the comics if you still need time with your loved ones.
I just lost my Grandfather in December. He raised me since I was a pup and I had taken care of him for the last seven or so years. It’s never easy losing someone close to you, but at the end of the day we need to pick ourselves up and do our best to move on.
Will be looking forward to more of all your comics when you’re ready to continue them.
I love you and your comics dude!!! So glad to have you back!!! Next time don’t scare me like that :”) also I hope you’re feeling better now, there’s no easy way to handle what happened to you.
Great to hear from you, doodicus! I hope I will be hearing more from you, as well. I miss this comic, I’ve been lacking my fix of insane crazed nonsense! 😀
… Excellent. I am ecstatic to have at long last witnessed the succeeding panel of that which I have become accustomed to seeing upon opening this page! Welcome back sir!
Hope the home situation is resolved, man. I know the last time, things were pretty… dire, I just want to be sure you are ready to be back on the Four Horses of your Webcomics (harbingers of the Internet Apocalypse? Whatever, they’re an awesome way to go.)
I think the point is more he doesn’t HAVE to give us a date for when a comic will be up – I am sure everyone would be perfectly happy if he just said he’d get one up when he can. However when you set a date you give people expectations and even though we know he has a lot of shit going on, it is still kind of disappointing when peoples expectation isn’t met. It is perfectly okay for him to not have time to write the comic right now, but it is also okay for people to be disappointed when they were told there would be a new page and there isn’t
He doesn’t HAVE to give us anything at all. He’s not doing this for us.
Yes, he gets money from the merchandise he sells in the store, but the comics themselves are done for his amusement and his amusement alone. At the end of the day if he wants to tell us “I’ll be posting something new on this day” and that day rolls around and he just doesn’t feel like it well then nuts to us that’s HIS choice, and it’s HIS right.
Aside from buying his merchandise (which eases his financial burdens slightly enough to make these books) our job is to wait patiently and loyally for him to return. Sure, if he was just slacking that would be one thing, but we know that he’s not. He’s got problems that he’s trying to work through, so it’s not our right to complain when he flakes. We’ve just got to live with it.
Nah mate that’s a load of shit and you know it. Yeah he doesn’t have to give us anything and currently he isn’t. it’s exactly as the person above says when you set a date either stick to it or don’t set a date as people hold you to that. I’m not the only one here who is getting frustrated that he continually says “New comic on this date” and then that day arrives and no comic no word from Scott. I don’t expect regular updates all I expect is that when he sets a date for something he sticks to it. If he said he will get one up on Monday I expect him to put a comic up on Monday or at least give us a post explaining that it’s not coming that is our right as his loyal readers and fans. If he said he will get one up when he has the chance, fine I won’t complain I’ll just sit back and let him take his time since he hasn’t set a date. All it shows by setting dates and not sticking to them is that he doesn’t respect us at all.
Couldn’t agree more, I know he’s going through personal stuff and he should take as long as he needs to deal with that. But if he’s going to set a date saying there will be a new update on this day, he should stick to that, or at least offer an explanation of some sorts. It doesn’t have to be in depth, just something to let us readers who are here everyday know.
Life happens… Yes it would be nice if he could keep dates. For the sake of convenience, just consider all artist/creative dates ‘tentative’.
I can’t tell you how many times I have given dates and estimates, and the second I pick a date that I believe I can reasonably meet/make – everything just goes haywire. Which makes it even harder to work or be creative even on not artistic things.
Many people have different strengths. Putting a date on a website saying new comic soon, or a few days, or even X day should not really be considered a promise but a target.
No idea what the guy is dealing with (or has had to deal with). I just come to the site and read it, i have never really paid attention to the discussion threads before. I hope it gets better and I appreciate the laughs.
If the fans/followers of the page make this too much like work and remove the enjoyment of it. Then that could mean no more. 🙁
I think you hit home on where we’re running into disagreements, Scott doesn’t have to set dates for us. If he just said “Hey guys I’m back I’ll try to update whenever I get the chance” that would be fine. It’s when he sets a date it gives fans something to look forward to and it’s a disappointing when he doesn’t follow through. But still that’s fine, everyone misses a day or two every once in a while. Especially with all of the things he’s dealing with, but then when he can’t even make a post saying “Hey guys won’t be able to get an update up today.” That seems like such a 30 second fix instead it seems like he doesn’t care about the readers who are sitting at their computers waiting for updates.
Think of it as procrastination + stress + bad day + exhaustion. He probably doesn’t want to disappoint people… and when you have hundreds/thousands of people watching that is a pretty stressful thing to deliver bad news.
That’s probably the case. And I feel like I should clarify, I’m not going to stop reading because of this, nor do I think less of Scott. This is just a place to vent some about being disappointed with other people who are his fans and can understand where you’re coming from. No matter what happens I’ll still be back on this site pretty much every day checking to see if there are any updates.
This is exactly what I am saying, perhaps my previous post seemed agressive or whiney but that wasn’t my intention, I was just trying to get the point across I am disappointed that Scott can’t keep his dates. Scott doesn’t have to give us anything and if he came out and said sorry no more that would be fine with me. He can give us as much or as little as he likes and I will keep reading as many as he puts out. All I want is for him to show a little responsibility towards the dates he puts out and the expectations of his readers. If he says comic on Monday all I ask is that on Monday there is either a comic or a post saying it’s not coming whether he explains why or not is his choice but it shows that he respects us and cares about the dates he puts out. If Scott said new comic coming soon with no date then I would happily keep checking without any kind of complaint.
Even if he does this people are still going to complain after all you can never please everyone it would just be appreciated if he would do us the kindness of a small post so we aren’t left hanging so to speak. I love Scott’s comics and I hope he never stops posting and so long as he does I will keep reading I just wish he wouldn’t give dates he can’t keep is all. He can post when he is ready and when it comes I’ll read it regardless of how long it takes him to get it up although I hope sooner rather than later.I don’t expect him to put us before his life I just don’t think it’s that hard to put up a small apologetic post saying it’s not coming is all.
Yes, I’m going to be the guy that repeats the tried and true statement.
“He didn’t say ‘which’ Monday.”
If you’re otherwise lousing about in your downtime between his updates, find other things that you find entertaining, because waiting for days to weeks for one more strip is kind of counterproductive, seeing as you’ve hit borderline for obsession and any and all future feedback will become biased. He’s taken his time before, and for the moment, he will continue to take his time. This is nothing new, or at least, it shouldn’t be at this point.
Main Point being, “chill out and find something to keep your attentions while you wait.”
I’m not disputing the fact that it would be NICE if he kept his dates. Fact remains though whatever he does here it’s his choice. I’m sure that every time he announces new content is coming and then the due date comes he considers the consequences of failing to deliver that new post. I’m sure he’s read the comments here and knows that he’s disappointing a lot of you, and even pissing some of you off. I’m sure he’s apologetic for it, but his real life comes first regardless of what promises he’s made. If you don’t like it, you don’t need to be here. If he loses every one of you as his fans… well it’s your choice if you want to abandon him due to his inactivity, but that inactivity is still his choice.
In short- none of incessant whining from any of you is going to make Scott post any faster, in fact it’s more likely just going to depress him further and he’ll continue putting it off.
I think you’re missing the point. Dude here isn’t upset that Scott is busy, he’s upset that a date wa given and was failed to be met. He knows Scott doesn’t HAVE to do anything, and it’s not like he’s pounding his fist on the table demanding entertainment. He’s just disappointed that he got his hopes up, and Scott didn’t come through — Regardless of why, he can’t control that he was disappointed and I even agree with his stance. It’s much less disappointing to be given a date, than to just have nothing at all.
That’s MY point though. I’m also disappointed that Scott was not able to meet our expectations, but SO WHAT?! He’s got a DAMN GOOD reason for it so why not just lay off it? It’s not a big deal. So we didn’t get the new stuff that we were promised. It’s not the end of the world. Even if Scott makes another 10 or 20 promises and subsequently breaks them I wouldn’t care, if that’s what he needs to get back on his feet then let him have it, because when he’s able to pull himself out of this he’s going to be better for it. But whining about this stuff isn’t going to help matters.
Just going to let you guys know for a fact he does not respect his fans. Also a warning… you will not necessarilly receive the merch you buy through this guy. He’ll take your money no problem but it’s been over a year and I still haven’t gotten the stuff I ordered. That’s my problem and why I won’t be reading the comic anymore. It wasn’t a huge amount of money but still, bad business!!
Kazu and Maddy Mills really its sad how much of a careless person you are. Scott is going through a lot and you should respect that. I ussually messup dates to and you are not perfect eather so be supportive. Scott does this for us. In the end he works hard and he always reads the comments to see how we react. All you should do is think about how he is fealing. I would love to have his Job. So just watch have a laugh and hope he feals better.
I AM being supportive of him. I want him to have all the time that he needs, but there are other people here who do nothing but gripe and complain that he broke a promise that he would post something new. Why does it matter so much if he broke a promise? With all the problems going on in his life he deserves to be as flaky as he needs to be.
I’ve got a lot of shit going on in my life too. I’m not being given time though. I’ve got a shitload of people that do nothing but bitch at me, but not a single one of them are lifting a damn finger to help.
This is ridiculous. People need to take responsibility for their actions. Yes, he can do whatever he wants, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t repercussions to everything. He doesn’t draw FOR us, the draws to draw. Hes acquired a fan base, and hes losing it, period. This is the real world kazu. You got stuff to take care of, take care of it, but every action has a reaction. His action to not keep us posted, had us reacting. So stop with your ghandi crap, because its so fake it hurts.
I think you are confusing Kazu with someone else, they were disagreeing with what I was saying and seem to agree with you. Also I do respect he is going through a lot and of course no one is perfect. However when I give dates for something, I stick to them, or at least warn people when something comes up. I respect Scott for his work, I enjoy this comic, and I do hope he feels better. However it kind of feels like he doesn’t respect his fans as much when he consistently gives a date for something and then doesn’t stick to that date and disappears for weeks at a time. Like I mentioned before, it is very easy to instead just say you will get a comic up when you have time – that way we know he’ll be back but no one will be disappointed when he doesn’t stick to a set date. Of course it is his right to act however he wants, but it is my right to be upset when I anticipate something and get excited about it only to be completely let down.
Listen if i say I am going to bring bran muffins and i dont. BIG FREAKIN DEAL. WHAT IF I WAS SHOT OR A CRAZY MUFFIN MAN TOOK THEM. thats how Scott feals. He is stressed. Family problem, lots of chickens, and who knows what otehr animals he has. Just let him take time off. Like a vacation to get his crap together.
Your analogy doesn’t really make sense. I am sure if one of those things happened you would, you know, give an explanation saying that is what happened and hence no bran muffins. And this isn’t like that anyway – this is him continuously letting down a lot of fans who pay money to help him do what he loves, without even giving them a two minute blog post explaining why. Literally ALL he would have to do is post something saying ‘Sorry, something came up so I can’t do the comic yet, but I haven’t forgotten about you and will get back to it when I have time.’
Also I haven’t seen one single person saying he shouldn’t take time off. Seriously, nobody is saying that. What we are saying is, if he needs to take time off, he should just tell us that, instead of continuing to promise a comic on x day and then failing to deliver.
I take issues with this statement. I respect what Scott’s going through as much as anyone else, but I think it’s okay to be frustrated with the failure to communicate here. This relationship between Scott and his fans goes to ways. I would assume that he doesn’t make these comics because it warms the cockles of his heart when people love his drawings. He makes these comics because he loves to draw, and it makes him money. This is a business. And what’s going on here is bad business. If the general manager of Chipotle goes through a rough time and has to take some time off, so be it, they’re entitled to that. But when they come back to work, open the store and say “bitches, we’ve got some fucking burritos,” and then all the burrito-loving addicts come a running only to find out they have no goddamn burritos, the people are allowed to be upset, and Chipotle is going to lose business. My point: If Scott continues to blow of his fans and his self-imposed responsibilities, he’s going to lose business…i.e…..fans……also….burritos are great.
I agree burritos are great. This is a self run buisness and he is stressed. I Know how he feals and i hate how people are saying how mad they are at him, guys, really Plague, You sound like(no offense) a person who is demanding, i respect that but you also have to respect Scott. He puts more effort into this than chipolte puts into a frieken burrito so he gets stressed when people who support him and are close to him get hurt. Scott keep going strong. Hope things get better, Gallons better. Do not let people mess with you just put more realistic dates.
Anyway doesnt Snarky look alot like the monster from motokool. Maybe the monster IS SNARKY and the characters look alike. Coincidence or does scott use same characters. Look. Maybe Snarky is a connection to the 2 commics.
That was discussed and basically confirmed a number of strips back. Apparently Nerf This, Scout Crossing and Motokool take place in the same universe, just not in the same places and times.
Has anyone seen if he has been streaming again?
Like I said before, I’m glad to see new pages being uploaded, but Scott, you shouldn’t craft some mirage if you still have people to devote your time to. Until things go “back to normal” just proclaim the hiatus announcement or state that the comic will ‘update whenever possible for the time being’ like you have stated with Scout.
Or at least show up in the comments once a week to communicate the progress or difficulties. It can be a sentence long. “Sorry, guys, things came up.”
That’s good enough for me..
These inconsistencies are keeping me sighing every-time I check the page. Next time Scott rather than tell us you’ll be back… just put up a strip, some witty banter, silly photos and leave no expectations! That would guarantee nothing and a number of us will switch from “sighing” to screaming like school girls in excitement! (just me?)
He did release a page, just not on Nerf This. It was a Scout Crossing page, and he even admitted, it took him longer than expected, because the page gave him a lot of trouble. You should like his page on Facebook.
YAY!
Good to have you back Scotticus!
YAY you’re back!
I guess what they say is true Good things Do come to those who wait.
I’m glad that you are back, Scoot.
Glad to have you back, even more glad that your doing well, cant wait for what you have in store
So excited! Haha I love Mr. Mills. <3
Love ya scott!
Well played, Mr. Mills, well played.
Is the new Scout Crossing page coming soon?
Like I said a few days ago, please don’t make any promises that you know you won’t keep. Don’t rush yourself with the comics if you still need time with your loved ones.
Welcome back Scotty.
HE’S BAAAACKKKK!!!! WOOT!
I love you and your comics dude!!! So glad to have you back!!! Next time don’t scare me like that :”) also I hope you’re feeling better now, there’s no easy way to handle what happened to you.

I MISSED YOU!!!! *TACKLE HUGS!!!*
Finally you show up!! I really miss you and your great comics, please don’t leave us again 🙁
Glad to see you’re still with us, Scotticus!
Hope the home situation is resolved, man. I know the last time, things were pretty… dire, I just want to be sure you are ready to be back on the Four Horses of your Webcomics (harbingers of the Internet Apocalypse? Whatever, they’re an awesome way to go.)
nice to see you back man.
Monday ends in less than 4 hours on the East Coast…. My bets are Scott will deliver!
I sure hope so 🙁
Once again, he never said WHICH Monday.
Give the guy a break, he’s got a lot of shit going on.
we love him and understand… it’s just these hopes we are hung up on. =(

What we are saying is, if he needs to take time off, he should just tell us that, instead of continuing to promise a comic on x day and then failing to deliver.
your continued misspelling of feels is annoying me.
My point: If Scott continues to blow of his fans and his self-imposed responsibilities, he’s going to lose business…i.e…..fans……also….burritos are great.
issue* two*
I agree burritos are great.
You should like his page on Facebook.
who’s a good hugz monster? YOU AR-
