Fearest Father
Aaaannnnd I’m back! ย Not sure if I’m sold on this new computer, it is blazingly fast, it’s a bit of a gaming powerhouse, which makes me feel like a creepy 50 year old on a sport cycle. ย I do have another week to decided I want to keep this, or just spend the extra and get (I’m going on specs though) this.
I may just decide this on a coin toss, which seems to solve most things for me (damnย treacherousย coin).
So, I’m pretty much to happy to be updating again, I’ll see you guys tomorrow ๐
Skeeeeee!!!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
I suppose that’s how Monty would say First
That guy may want to keep in mind that he’s at a ‘circ du crazy-shite’ and that he can’t compare his future fatherhood to… THE SKEEE. =D
If you have the actual disc for your programs then spend the little extra and get the mac. I have one and it works wonderful. I’m saving up for Photoshop though. /won’t have it for awhile.
But I really enjoy your comics, and I always have since the beginning. :3
If I do get the Mac, I will have to get Bootleg so I can run my Adobe Programs on them (cheaper buying Windows than Photoshop & Illustrator). I’m really happy you like my comics, thank you for the kind words ๐
Very true. I probably should do that instead and I could do that now since I’m close to getting Photoshop.
Also, if you don’t get a Mac, I’d invest in something a bit different than your current one. There are alot of bad reviews floating around about it.
Heck, I’m still saving up for Windows. Can’t ever seem to find the extra money to bother purchasing it, though, since I’m almost certain it won’t work for me half the time.
Microsoft products despise me with a fury unrivaled on this earth.
Back from the grave, eh? Jolly good.
It was a warm grave, but now it’s time to finally take my sass back ๐
My friend has that Asus. It’s brought her nothing but trouble (the gpu overheats, it has fan issues, and the chargey port thingy has stopped working before), and it is in no way portable. I suggest going with the Mac, or getting a Lenovo. Really. Get a Lenovo.
Ah, thanks for the tip, my last laptop was an IBM, which basically went through hell for me for almost 4 years (serious, there is a list in laptop hell that has me on it). I did look at the IBM portable workstations, but it would be another 2 week wait for them to ship it to me, and I didn’t want to go another 2 weeks of barely posting.
I agree, buy a Lenovo. This one I’m on right now I bought on Black Friday last year, and it has never given me a moments trouble. Best Laptop I’ve ever had.
HAHA This made me laugh till i couldn’t see. This is my all time favorite web comic.
Macs make me hiss @.@
If you’re looking for PC, I’d suggest something like sager. I’ve heard nothing but great stuff about that brand.
Still if you really plan on using your pc for years, spend the extra, you’ll regret it 6-18 months later. I know I did ๐
My brother has the G73 and he loves it, but it does have a couple issues.
I picked up an MSI myself from http://www.xoticpc.com and I love it.
Best thing I can say is make sure you get a good warranty, and make sure the company is good with their warranties (Google it)
Best of luck on your computer!
I’m still looking around, I’ve only been using the Asus for a few days, and it’s doing everything without too much of a struggle, it does get pissy sometimes when I’m using my Intuos, but otherwise that, it’s doing good. Dell has some fairly solid portable workstations as well, but who knows, I still have about a week to decide.
AH HA! so there WAS a plan after all!
…I was beginning to wonder.
(PS: Yep, no monsters in people’s bellies around here. That would just be weird…)
I know the only thing to overcome my fright would be my curiosity ๐
Personally, I wouldn’t buy a pre-built computer, and I definitely wouldn’t buy a pre-built mac, since they overprice pretty much everything, sure it’s fancy, but the price is waaaay to high! But that’s just my opinion.
Anyhow, great comic (just caught up to today!) and I hope you keep posting : P
Welcome back. I am not well versed enough in computers to give any advice, but I’m glad you once again have a working one! ๐
Oh how happy I am right now. This has inspired me to hurry up and begin work on my own comic again. Promised a man in a military uniform I’d have a second story for him by the end of the night…what to do what to do. On the laptop issue, I’ve honestly heard nothing but good about Mac. I’ll be using a MacBook Pro for my film & TV class later this fall, yes they’re pricey and software that normally is used on PC’s is a bit tricky to get working BUT once you make it past those small hurdles they’re idiot proof.
So let me see if I understand you… once you get past all the problems with Macs, they’re problem free? I see…
This is why I never want to have kids.
Loljk I want like fifty of the little buggers
x3 Next up, the joys of parenthood?
Excellent! So glad your computer problems are almost at an end. My day’s wouldn’t have the same pep without your comics ๐
Poor guy is gonna have Alien nightmares for weeks! XD
ROFL!
So is that Taryn’s monster Snarky under there? We haven’t seen him in a loooonnng while. ๐
… I think this was the plan to catch Monty.
Ah, the expression is priceless.
If you are willing to pay THAT MUCH and get a Mac, why not look into a good tablet PC?
The Fujitsu ST5112 had some great reviews. May wanna check them out.
Get a Mac!
After years of working with windows and even custom built computers I switched
You can butter my butt and call me a biscuit because I go Mac now!
I’m glad to see you back!
Hmm… Mac or PC? Can’t really answer that one, it’s really more down to personal preference. For the Macs you’ve got greater stability and security, but you probably would have to restock your software library (unless you have programs for Mac and PC), and cost a small fortune for a decent model. For the PC, they’re cheap and pretty reliable (Windows 7 is a pretty good OS), but you got to barricade them behind an array of firewalls, anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, and all sorts of techno-hoopla.
I just use Avast for an antivirus. Never had a problem it couldn’t fix.
Viruses are like STDs. Everyone fears them but its pretty much your fault if you have one, since they are so easy to avoid.
I would just like to say…. I called it!!!
That last panel is personally responsible for me having to clean coffee off my desk. As always, fantastic job.
Good to see you’re back up and running =)
Security really isn’t that big of an issue with windows either.
As long as you use common sense when browsing the web, you can more often than not get along with no to little security.
Oh, the delicious irony.
I’ll let you know dear sir of fine Dappery that I seen that expression that guy made in the last panel reminded me of a comic I once seen and forgot at the moment…also great too see your going to be fine from now on keep up the Fine work my dapper man.
Might be Boxer Hockey. The face looks like something Skip would make after Rittz does something particularly inane.
BY GOD’S you are right that’a the face skip would make thank you Dor you just made or MORe fun…hurr.
Yay, I KNEW he was under there!!
It is great to see those two still up to such mischief! If I were you I would stick with the Asus machine. Better to be a 50 year old on a sports bike than a 50 year old trying to be a hipster!
“I read somewhere that it’s a fulfilling time for both of us.” Man, I wish I was that easy.
That guy has probably never seen Eraserhead.
Keep the Asus! That’s the one i have and it’s my baby. <3
LOVE this comic. It has seriously become the bright point in my day. And Monty? LOVE.
As for the computer dealio, I personally have a Dell Inspiron. It hasn’t given me any issues, and I’ve had it going on a year now. It comes highly reccomended from my friends in the IT department in Florida. :}
*sighs* And the horror sets in
I recommend Dell. My last one lasted through 7 years of daily hard use before it started acting up (overheating) . Got a new one and it works beautifully ๐ and they ship very fast. Pretty expensive though, but in my opinion, worth it.
P.S. This is my favorite webcomic ๐ !! And you’re up against some VERY tough competition … like QC, DCIGTH, Bear Nuts, Bear and Tiger, Goblins, Sam and Fuzzy, etc. so, koodos ๐ and keep up the great work ๐
As far as PC or Mac goes, well, whichever is best for your needs.
I would suggest getting a desktop over a laptop, though. They last longer, and can get upgrades if need be down the road.
If you still decide to get a laptop, go with a better brand. My husband and I have purchased our last three computers from them (two laptops and a desktop), and they’ve been good to us.
A compute designed to not overheat? What a plan. Why didnt they think of it before?
Any plans for a monty stuffy? He’s too damned cute. How about a pick a print too? Love this comic: warped, off-beat and brilliantly funny.
i feel bad for that guy he was so looking foreward to being a father lol
I happen to own the 15 inch pro. It’s a good computer, if you get the apple care, anything wrong can be perfectly solved instead of having to get coverage on a PC which is more of a hassle.
IMO, my pro has been through hell and back with me, till they thought it was weird that the hard drive crashed three times, so apple gave me the new 2011 one(extra incentive on getting the pro, complain enough about it and they’ll give you a new one) not saying that it’ll fail on you as many times as it did for me. Durable too, dropped mine yesterday, nothing new. Thrown my backpack around, nothing. Had it in my duffel bag, still no damage. Mine is the second option Pro, so it runs all the music and videos I make perfectly. Never lags on me unless I’m running a high graphics game and two other programs at the same time ๐
I don’t have much experience with PCs neccesarily, my family always built our own computers that run on windows so I wouldn’t know what you need until it comes to macs hehe.
Anywho, I think the mac is a good choice, or a different PC that not that one, eugh.
I have that Asus, and it’s been nothing but a sweetie. It’s fast, it handles whatever I want it to do, and the quality of it just makes me giggle sometimes. It is a gaming powerhouse, I’ve never experienced game lag once.
However, keep in mind that it’s big enough and heavy enough to be an effective weapon. I can beat someone to a bloody pulp with my Asus and it will not be the one with injuries.
Also, I’d prefer you be the creepy old man on the speed cycle than the creepy old man in a speedo on the beach.
congratulations! you get a comment!
Clearly you should not buy a Mac. The video games I make do not run on Macs. So, clearly, Macs are inferior. =|:{P
Get the mac.
I don’t know about the laptop you got, but my desktop is an ASUS and I love it. I also know a guy that has an ASUS laptop and loves it. He drives a truck if that gives you any idea what kinda hell it has to go through. Another friend of mine has an ASUS laptop and likes it. It says it stays cool, but it has been my experience that ASUS’ tend to get pretty warm.
I’m also very against Mac’s, but that’s just personal preference because I Apple is a very stuck up corporation
That’s supposed to say, “I think Apple blah blah blah…”
You’re right… that does sound better. ๐
I’m going to pass on the platform wars for now and simply wish you the best of luck with whatever computer you think is best for you and thusly end up sticking with. Long live sc0tticus and his webcomics, all fifty thousand of them!
Scott, seriously, please check this out be4 your week is up…and run far far away from drastically overpriced computers, lol… and ignore the idiotically bad grammar in the URL, I have no idea what they where smoking, hahaha!
http://www.mayursha.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/mals_why_should_we_dont_buy_mac.gif
Ah i see exactly as planned.
Where is snarky?
