I think it works better with the silence. Its like his rage is so intense that the sound of his moustache growing back is so strange and fearful to the human brain that it doesn’t register to keep the body from going into a coma out of sheer fear.
You can see the emoti-figures running around inside Mr Mills’ head: Blind Rage, Hatred, Murder Suppression, Anger, The Moustache, The Ragestache (they take turns controlling that all-powerful facial hair) and, holding on to the chains in an otherwise empty corner, Fatherly Care.

I love the veins in his mustache, it’s a very nice touch. I think Milles is just impressed that Chase managed to damage the ragestache.
