Dobson Flying
DOBSON FLIES (they’re awesome).
Because of the horribleness of the last post, I decided to Mark Trail it up a little bit. I turn into such a kid on x-mas when I see animals/insects outside, and then the main goal is to hold it (hence the copper head bite of 08, and the baby raccoon bites of 07).
Oh chase, I fell in love with you even more when you say something intelligent.
Oh goodness, Chase, panel two. That eyebrow. Keep it up, Scott.
Chase’s facial structure looks fantastic in this one! My favorite number is also purple, by the way. Chase has good taste in numbers.
Chase is so dense he has the opposites of brain farts! Also, Scott! Facebook has alerted me it’s your birthday. Because I am too terrified to write on your wall I’m going to say it HERE on the comic: Happy birthday, Scott!
Haha thanks! (don’t be terrified!) Also, I’m old and decrepit now 😉
Weird how big bugs are awesome, but Mosquitos and tiny spiders scare the crap out of me (−_−;)but besides that Happy Birthday Scott!
Big bugs are awesome, they’re like miniature cats, with optional mandibles (thanks for the b-day wishes!)
A post without a nightmare inducing photo!? YAY No nightmares this week. And I agree with Chase, The Sky is blue because of robots!
Hey todays my bday to!! 🙂 love your comic so much!!! 🙂
thanks for the kind words, and happy birthday!
And now it all makes sense. Chase isn’t actually like a big dumb cat, he’s sane pretending to be insane, pretending to be a fool!
Or is it just senility pretending to be sane pretending to be insane…
Maybe Chase knows what it is because of the dapper sounding name.
Still want the koala killing chase to appear again. That one and dapper chase are my favorite
I very much like the facial expressions on this one. I really missed regular updates!
Does anyone else have fun flipping through the strips and seeing how much the art has improved?
Just flip between the first and last ones – it’s like they were drawn by two different people!
Basically I’m saying you’re pretty awesome, Scott.
I just did that and its impressive how much it has changed and it was pretty damn good to start with honestly, but i also realized, we used to see tony’s eyes.
I love that you’re back to regular updates, and I like what you’re doing with Chase’s facial expressions, but please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, UPDATE SCOUT CROSSING!!! There’s a metric fuck-tonne of potential in that comic (and Motokool, for that matter) in terms of story driven webcomic-ery (now a word).
Every man and his dog is doing light, mostly standalone funny webcomics, whereas you have the chance to develop truly epic stories told in webcomic form, with your signature god-damn-awesome art style that works oh-so-well in action scenes. Funny moments seem to happen naturally and almost incidentally in SC, and with its overarching narrative and very, very intriguing premise/mythology/backstory it’s honestly the best webcomic I have ever read. Ever. Period. Get on that shit, man!
Scout updated today 🙂
cathcing copper heads is risky bidness… no bites here though! =D
and the last panel/// oh gosh…XD
Question: where did Monty go?
More importantly, where did Snarky go?
I think Monty is at home with his sock-bitches. And…Snarky is…..with Taryn’s mom? Yeeeah. I think so
Hate to be a nit picker here, but the male dobsonflies are the ones with the big mandibles, not the females. They are used to hold on to the females while mating and are not strong enough to pierce the skin.
Yes, you are very right, I meant when Chase says, “You can tell from the size of-” he was just referring to the size that it’s the female (which I’m pretty sure I illustrated). I don’t think I wrote that he was talking about the mandibles being larger on the female.
To be fair, Chase’s answer to why the sky was blue was “robots,” so I think him getting the sexes mixed up is relatively minor.
That, and he never said they were big mandibles, just that you can tell it’s female from the size…which you can, since they’re smaller.
So weird… I encountered Dobson Fly larvae – called Hellgrammites – for the first time this past Saturday in a river. I had no idea what they were, so I had to look them up. They were up to about 3″ long, and look like something out of Wrath of Khan… And happy belated B-day, Scott!
I love the way you spelled [Gasp]!
I’d like to see Chase fight some Chinchillas, as apparently that shits crazier than when he fights Koalas http://nerf-this.com/05012009/
lolol
