I thought the darker eyes was chase turning to the dark side cause of the cardigan
When the small, fuzzy monster looks down on you, its time to shed the cardigan.
I’m more partial to the brown eyes that you’ve been doing, but then again I’ve become adjusted to them, I don’t know the dark eyes almost give it like a Mickey Mouse feel I guess that’s what I thought of when I noticed it haha. I didn’t realize anyone could understand Monty

I like brown eyes, they’re just very much a warm colour and makes Chase’s features look a lot softer. The jet black eyes seem a bit too cold and harsh and not really that suitable for Chase. However, like these other kids are saying, jet black eyes are the way to go for demonic possession (check out Supernatural if you want to see demonic possessions in the realm of fiction).
For me black eyes does not work for a few resaon:
1/ it’s the color (black + white pupils) that you used for animals, and then it creates a gap between him and the rest of the humanity that is not needed, because, since he seems softer with brown eyes, his goofiness and weirdness works better than with cold dark eyes (same paradigm as for the whites vest 😉 )
2/ the dark eyes emphasize too much the expression lines under the eyes, which besome the single spot of his emotions once you can’t work on shadows in the eye itself
3/ while you could work on the form of the cheeks and of the eye for the animals, the need to recognize the human head form to get what mc cloud would call identification (I’m not sure of the proper word, I read it in french) to the character which only permits the inference of emotions from the reader to the character, this need to have a “neutral” form doesn’t really allow you to make Chase the contorsions that make animals and monsters funny and still emotion-proper.
I hope my hieratic english does not endammaged too much what I wanted to point out, once again, it’s not my mothertongue, and not even the language I learned at school.

I also wanted to make a note for Motokool. I’m really in love with this intensity and darker colors… I think Jervis’ eyes in particular really help the horrifying mood you’re doing. I love the style. Keep it up! 🙂

I may be mimicking, but I like the brown eyes, as well. He can’t be as ridiculous and lovable with harsh black eyes. It’s a little too Heathcliffe from the Wuthering Heights. As far as I know in literature they always give the “bad guy” or at least “unlikeable” guy dark eyes and sharp features. Chase is too naive and sweet for that. I know he’s not really naive, but I just like to think of him as being innocent and in need of backup. Like why won’t they just let him wear his cardigan and be happy? It breaks my heart haha
