Calling all Creators to check out The Fabler!
This is a write up I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and I really need to take a moment to do it “right”. First and foremost, Scout Crossing won the grand prize on the Fabler! I didn’t expect to win, I really didn’t think that my art and writing would even end up in the top ten, but I couldn’t be happier that it did (seriously, I was actually shaking).
NOW, this is what I want to talk about…
The Fabler is doing a really great thing for creators who want to break into the comic/webcomic industry, they don’t promise you a syndication or a pay per page deal, but they offer you much more than that… they offer you the chance to win the tools to be a better artist, and the ability to make a better comic. This is something I don’t exaggerate by any means, the Fabler is giving anyone the chance to show their comic to the world, have it be voted upon by users and judges, and are letting everyone compete for products by Wacom, which is the leading standard for creators today.
In truth, Scout Crossing is a comic dedicated to my late older brother, he was an artist, a writer, and he’s the sole reason I grew up to love comics so much today. So far everyone’s support has been great, better than great (I honestly don’t deserve the awesome bunch of you who read this comic).
What I want to say, is that if you have an idea for a comic, or are currently updating a webcomic, enter it the the Fabler, because honestly, if I can win, I think anyone can π It’s an awesome bunch who run it, and they’re really passionate about seeing this still very young industry grow into something great.
If you wish to follow the Fabler on Twitter, you can find them here as well π

Hooray! Gratz man!
You deserve it. You overwork yourself to ridiculous levels to bring us no less than THREE beautifully rendered web-comics a week and still find the time to respond to most of us when we comment on your posts for each comic. And we thank you, you know, just in case we don’t say it enough.
i totally agree with wonderer you deserve it man and thanks for your awesome comics that i have the pleasure of waking up to everyday (or several times a week) they are all awesome
Well deverved my good man, well deserved!
I’m gonna enter mine, after I figure out a good title and cover. God I want that cintiqβ¦
Yes, you absolutely do deserve it! Your creativity and productivity put the rest of us to shame. Go you! π
PS – I’m sorry to hear about your brother. But I’m sure he’d be proud of you.
Hmmm… The current 3d prize for the fabler contest is a PS3 Price pack…
Way to encourage drawing! :p
And I agree with all that is said above: You somehow manage to draw not one, but 3 great comics. All free for our eyes only too. That’s not something many can accomplish, so pride yerself on it π
(Also, I wish I could draw, but a 5 year old draws better. >.>)
Looong time lurker here! Just wanted to extend a heartfelt congrats on your big win Scott! You more than deserve it for your continued dedication to your craft and passion.
Pat yourself on the back, my friend ~ job well done. π
You do totally deserve it! I love the work you do, and knowing the fact that you basically came up with these awesome comics with epically drawn art makes me a little jealous. I’m okay at drawing, but I’m nowhere near your level. (I’d check out fabler if it wasn’t for that. I have a million different ideas.)
Damn your brother sounds awesome all my brother ever does is crash the family car and then take up drinking
Good job!
I’d loooove to win a better tablet than my Bamboo Create @____@
first, grats on winning dude
second: you sell yourself short my friend, your art is wonderful and your writing is natural in it’s flow, you have talent and you definitely deserve the awesome followers you have, even more than that. It’s only natural to doubt yourself but don’t just give into it and don’t sell yourself short in any respect my friend.
and lastly, though I may not have known your brother I’m sure he would love the comic and be very very proud.
