Totally love the third panel. You’re just pure awesomeness Scott
SKEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
That may be the best plan ever… and marking his new property = priceless
CelestialTeez
i don’t know what’s up with Taryn, that plan is AWESOME
Mike
Just a question, not sure if you’ve answered it before, but where why did you choose the names for the characters how you did?
Mike
Wow, poorly phrased.
How did you think of your character’s names?
There. That’s better.
Scotticus
Hmmm… not sure if I remember too well, but Tony and Steph are based on two of my friends (also named Tony and Steph), who actually were married 1 year before Nerf This Tony and Steph were married. Monty was simply a name I picked for a pet I almost had, and Monty the Monster had a ring to it. Aidan is a punkish girl so I used the punk band Aidan. Chase’s name was taken from my parent’s dog (who’s goofy as hell). Tayrn Mills is based on the town Tarin Mill where my friends and I used to go years ago in our WoW days. Nergil was what my friends came up with, it was almost Barnibus, but I liked Nergil more. When I created Aidan, I wanted someone named with a “Z” so Zoey was born (Plus Zoey is an awesome girl’s name).
When I usually want a character to be put into the comic, I have little idea how I want them to act, just a very vague idea. They seem to handle that fine on their own. I’m also very new at this comic-ing stuff so I can only shoot in the dark and hope things work out for the best.
Not sure if I answered your questions, but hope I kind of did
OutLawRed
Shooting in the dark? so what does your title of “DeadEye” graduate to when you start firing while riding a horse backwards?
(thats thick sarcasm for ‘good job’)
J Hulk
I’m glad you went with Nergil, Barnibus the Shadow Guy doesn’t have as nice of a ring to it…
also, agreeing with the outlaw above, I’d say for just ‘shooting in the dark’ you have incredible accuracy. Your characters are wonderfully dapper and awkward. (Huzzah!)
Ironreaper
Also agree cause you dont seem like your new to writting comics and your caracters are very well developed. Your doing a great job and im looking foreward to more work from you
Mike
Thanks for the explanations.
And I agree Nergil is a better name than Barnabus for a antagonist shadow-creature.
Mr.Tophat
Step 1: Hit shadow guy with brick.
Step 2: Pee on him.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit!
OutLawRed
toilet humor, always a good, solid laugh. And have i mentioned i shall be claiming Taryn as my own? Awesome, this character is.
and it begs the “plot device” question… why haven’t they ran like the dickens yet? tactical retreat maybe?
Angelgex01
BEST PLAN EVER. I especially loved the part about asserting his dominance. GOOD SHOW SIR GOOD SHOW.
nick
do you sell Chase-shirts?
has to have that collar (panel 5). Mid sleeves. The vest and tie could be designs on the t-shirt.

Mr. Scot. how much do you charge for commissions. Do you take commissions? If so i have a request.
Oh! and this one made me laugh hard. I love your Comic and art style.
J Hulk
Chase winking in panel 3 is hilarious. Also…BEST PLAN EVER!!!!!!
(sorry for the all caps section…)
ThinMan
Okay, I’m totally urinating on the next person that I win an argument with. (Followed by an impish wink while explaining to them that they are now, indeed, MY property).
I think that third panel has officially pushed Nerf to the top of my “favorite webcomics” list. It was teetering anyway, but a scribbly Chase peeing on a dapper shadowy-demon-wizard-dude was the last brick in the wall. I’m not made out of wood, people!
Ember West
This is why I always look forward to the next Nerf-this comic! The second, fourth, and fifth panels are the best!
andreaawesome
AHHHHH naked chase butt…and naked rest of him.
Fish
One word… Infallible!
quarktime
What are you, a spaniel?

step 1- hit shadow guy with brick
step 2- make a porno
step 3- get stoned and watch my little pony
step 4- tweet about it
Ironreaper
I love the way Taryn looks on the last panel and she made me giggle with that comment
I was telling my S.O. after reading this that I think you pulled this plan straight from his brain. He agreed.
Flip-a-Baby
I have never seen a more well developed plan
Fromthewoodwork
Bricks solve EVERYTHING, Taryn. Just ask Zoey! (the joke gets more awkward the longer you think about it)>.>
mar mar :)
yes it does, good job with that
dor
Maybe I only noticed it because of the heart-shaped bubble, but I just realized that I’m kinda in love with your speech bubbles. The normal ones have those pleasantly curved angles and the special ones are really pretty and natural-looking with those sketch lines.
Hooray for off-topic comments?
Mr.Tophat
I stumbled across this and immediatly thought of you, Scott.
