I try to picture the scary factor for chase being similar to the affect of playing this… which I did play for about 30 minutes a year ago, and it officially made me scared of the dark for about a month D:

        Actually, that was Dead Space 1. :3 But I agree with you about the game! Hell, Ive had it for a year, and I still havent even gotten halfway…

I couldn’t help but giggle for a good 5 minutes at Nergil’s face, and every time I go back up to look at it I start laughing all over again. I’m getting strange looks from my co-workers.

Awww, Nergil’s ickle face! It’s kind of like hide-and-seek with…bricks and shadow chaps and… not like hide and seek at all…
Anyway, good to see you’re back on track!

Incidentally, Dead Space is good, but not great. It’s neither all that scary or all that fun or original, even though I first played it because it was marketed to me by a friend as zombies in space and thus I was one over. Actual zombie-ish and other games are much better. DS tends to rely on things jumping out at you and semi-gross body horror – it gets predictable and it just could be so much better. Oh, and I’m sorry, but people who describe it to friends as ‘zombies in space’ liiiiieeee… because I’m a zombie purist and I love zombie stuff, and necromorphs are -not- zombies.

Oh, and at some point in that vid, at 0.15 or something, there’s this random ‘RAWR!’ noise that made me lol like a moron…because I’m special like that.

  Not just any brick, but a SHADOWBRICK. For only dapper wizards will get the whorelock beat out of them with a fine piece of dapper shadowbrickery. Great comic as always Scott, I have enjoyed Nerf This for many years…keep up the amazing work.

In other news I personally found Chases scare factor to be one closer to the feeling in your gut when you first begin to play Amnesia.

The dark doesn’t scare me, so much as the possibility of horrorterrors within it. “Scary” games usually only get a slight jump out of me when something unexpected happens, but it’s little more than reflex. No, for something to scare me, it has to be mindwarpingly horrifying.
