I think that it’s really interesting that Destiny’s expression in panel 4 is of sheer, utter terror. I also think that it’s nice to see that even though she nearly KILLED her husband, she still loves him and feels immeasurably safe in his presence.
Who wouldn’t feel safe around him? He’s got neck veins filled with rage and a chest that is puffingly serious.
I mean… she just got her ass handed to her, and she kicked his ass harder than any man’s ass has been kicked before… so, Her?
Alright, BESIDES the human personification of Destiny, MOST people would feel safer.
True. At the same time, although Destiny’s a bitch, even she has her moments.
Is it just me or does Destiny look a lot younger in this strip? Maybe it’s just because her eyes are completely open and she’s not terrifying looking.

Yep. I had come to the conclusion that Chase and Templeton are likely the same person. Now I think it is so clearly true that if it turns out they aren’t then I’ll be a little annoyed at Scott for trying so hard to deceive us.
You forgot a few other points they are the same on. Same phrases, same oddball sense of humor, but I think the biggest is the images on the paper and the symbols for the aspects of Chase’s ego / inner selves.

One eye is repressed rage / emotion in charge again, the other eye is the others in shambles. Identical symbols. Templeton is Chase.
I posted this last strip. This is my theory.
“What if later in the series, Nergil separates Chase and monster Chase, creating two Chases. One good(who becomes human king), one evil(who becomes Templeton).”
I was wondering actually if maybe Templeton and Grandpa are different parts of Chase, given that they look similar (and the comments about the emotion faces on the piece of paper, and the fact the grandpa ALSO has a similar facial makeup to chase). Add on that we already know Chase has multiple seperate aspects to his personality, perhaps some kind of split happened? And then Evil Chase killed Taryn? Just spitballing. In any case, Mr. Ferguson is a master story teller.
That is what I believe will eventually happen. Chase will become two people and that will be the elder characters in motocool
Definitely a strong reference to Chase being Templeton, but Destiny is also not dead. Or, at least, she APPEARS not to be. Maybe it’s a death-scene flashback.

Chase seems like he is Templeton from motokool!~ but that would make the grandfather Mr. Mills……Which means Taryn had a child with…..Or sometime between someone figures out how to Separate the monster and chase. hmm I love that occasionally this comic makes me think!~ Keep up the good work!~
I agree on the similarities and possible theory here.
I have my own theory, chase will not become templeton ( who is most likely a Nigel gone insane) instead I believe that chase will become the human king and have a son ( Jarvis ) before templeton gets mixed in and kills ms.millis which would lead to gramps being mr.millis extremely pissed at him.

Second panel almost makes me think of Dillinger in Scout Crossing. Aside from the physique. Just the way he’s gone all dark, the eyes glowing, and the pointy teeth. And then there’s the obvious motokool reference of Templeton going “you might say no….”

What if
Mr. Mills is Ruggles.
Destiny is the lady from Scout Crossing with the gear tattoos, her magic tats all faded/removed because they were killing her.
And Chase is somehow related to/has the potential to be like Dillinger, and that’s why she was so protective of Taryn?
I wasn’t actually making any sort of theory 😛 I was just saying what certain things remind me of.
I still think Chase is not the Templeton… it is just too obvious and kind of a sad twist really. Besides, I wonder what Monty did to Chase to stop him.
I’d agree with you. I don’t think that they’re necessarily related, just that Scott has a… tendency to draw his characters very similarly.

Though a tiny pair of double monocles does seem quite fancy.
I think they are pince-nez, nearly as dapper as a monocle, and not nearly as silly as double-monocles.

I’m not sure if he’d Templeton, but if you look at Jarvis’ monster, it looks just like Snarky (different name though). So, it could be possible, just as easily as it’s not.

Nope, I was definitely confused that I could see her eyes and she wasn’t actually terrifying. Now CHASE of all people is the scary one.

All these Chase/Templeton references and Snarky/Iggy with the band-aid right where Chase punched Snarky. I’ll admit it, Scott you are scaring me with all this foreshadowing and just how long this had to have been planned out. It’s brilliant and I think I shall have to wear brown pants from now on for the day the jaw dropping revelation happens.
Now, this is just a theory, and I’m re-reading Motokool to try and validate it, but what if Templeton is the darker side of Chase and the grandad is the light side.? Like, they get separated and Templeton hates the grandpa because of it. Imma go try and validate this right now…
I think that might be a little much of a reach, but considering the content of the past few strips, theres room for any twist I guess.
So it takes her almost dying to open her eyes normally. One wonders how common waking up in a hospital Is for this family.

Yep, that’s always been my take on it. The ones who are worried about ‘good’ Chase becoming ‘evil’ Templeton have not really looked at who Chase really is IMO.
(Huh… … she actually looks pretty adorable when she’s recovering from shock and injury, and so scared that you can see her eyes… Still pretty much blame her for that whole situation though… As if things weren’t going to be awkward enough at family dinners… … Still, Chase has got a problem. Monty’s a Band-Aid, not a cure… … He might need to look into that…)

It seems that Destiny has lost her confident attitude. I wonder what will happen when she sees chase again? I mean Mr. Mills could never beat Destiny, so i am dying to see how Chase’s relationship with Taryn’s parents will change.
I think that Motokool and this were the same story, and this WAS the part where Chase kills Destiny and becomes Templeton, (she was even using the knife he has stuck in his head) but when she wakes up the stories diverge.
I think I may love Chase a little after this scene.

It would so far appear to me that the connections between Chase and Templeton, Monty and the Mocking Beasts, etc. may well be accurate, but as Chase obviously hasn’t actually killed Destiny, it seems that Motokool may be an alternate universe and the battle was the point of divergence, thus Destiny has just experienced an echo from the other path.
